Keeping In Touch With You

There are so many things I want to share with people who want to love their pets wisely.

As Voyko always says “True love is a wise love”.  It’s why we continue to learn and evolved throughout the years.  Things that we once believed to be good for us – may not really be and the same thing holds true for our pets.  For instance, many years ago, we thought that brown rice was a good thing for them to eat.  (It was better than white rice and provided more nutritional value).  But then we realized that rice had no place being in a pet’s diet at all. (Ever see a cat stalk a rice paddy?)  It was used by the giant pet food manufacturers as merely filler and typically packed on the pounds as well.

Every time someone tells me that their pet is overweight or they have skin or coat problems; my first question is “what kind of dry food are you using?”  The replies are typically the same and usually sound like: “I’m feeding them what my vet recommended”, “Oh no! I’m using a holistic pet food”, “It’s not the food… it’s all natural”, or “Hypoallergenic, of course”!  Sadly, when we come to read the labels, they generally paint a picture of ingredients that are difficult to digest, really inexpensive, or contain a slew of isolated vitamins and minerals in them.  The longer the ingredient panel, the less nutritional value the food had to begin with, which is why the manufacturer had to add it in at all.

Most commercial pet foods, whether they’re labeled holistic or natural barely sustain life, and would not meet minimum government (AAFCO) standards without that long list of vitamins at the end of the label.  Some pets are fortunate, – they might have great constitutions and can live on junk foods, but most of them are not so lucky and require higher quality nutrition.

My goal is to help keep my readers informed of everything that makes our pets live better. I will share with you, all that I find out and promise to keep you in the loop.  I hope that you sign up for my newsletter and forward it to a friend or two.  As life and the world keep changing, we have to keep reassessing our pets’ needs, along with our own.  I’m in the process of writing a new cookbook for the ones you love and hope that you’ll share your own recipes with me as well. I look forward to hearing about your own true stories too, so that I can post them here – for the world to see!

Wishing you and your pets great health always,

Andi Brown

  1. About six months ago Lucky went to the vets to have his teeth cleaned and they just started to fall out during cleaning and my wife had given the vet permission to pull what neededto be.After surgery our vet sent him home with my wife and Scienc Diet’s R&D gastrointestinal wet food. Then about a month ago we started mixing in Science Diet’s W/D canned food. My concern is he is not gaining any weight and may have lost about a 1/2 to a pound inthe last week or two.He is almost ten years old and weighs 10.lbs. I know he is within the weight range he should be but he seemsto act almost addictive when I or my wife feeds him with the food.He was raised on dry a dog food Back to Basics Lamb and Rice and never had any health problems until this teeth cleaning. He had two before and he had lost seven teeth the first and nine the second which is when my wife went from brushing from 3 times a week to every night. Our Dog now was like a new dog after having his teeth removed but seems to be totally addicted to his food.Do you have any suggestions on a type of diet I could prepare for him. Thanks, Joe

    1. Hi Joe, Glad you wrote me. So many pets seem like they ravage their food because their bodies are really starving for great nutrition. Sounds like he needs a better quality diet. I always say “If I can’t eat it myself, my pets would never get it”. I NEVER recommend dry food because it’s just cereal with vitamins. Not great to help build the blood, organs, and even bone. Sorry he’s lost his teeth. You want to try to keep the ones Lucky’s got left. As far as brushing… I recommend that they brush their own teeth. In about three weeks, I’m launching a new line of HEALTHY products for pets, which will include an unbelievably healthy chew treat that REALLY eliminates having to brush and exercises teeth and gums. Make sure you sign up for my newsletter, so you can be the first to know about the new products and get my book. My food is easy to prepare and will provide the most superior nutritional value for Lucky. He will find his ideal weight on this food. And by the way.. I am also coming out with the most exceptional food in the world with the new line. So.. now you can choose… Either start cooking, or wait just a month and get my new food in a can! Please keep me posted on Lucky’s lucky new diet! xoxo Andi Easy link to the newsletter: https://www.thewholepetdiet.com/newsletter/
